Scarification is the process of mechanically removing thatch, moss, and organic debris from the surface of your lawn using a scarifier. The machine cuts into the turf with vertical blades, lifting out the debris and opening the lawn up to breathe.
Think of it as an exfoliation for your lawn—getting rid of what's holding it back so it can grow stronger and thicker.
Thatch is a layer of dead grass, roots, moss, and organic material that builds up between the soil and the green grass blades. A small amount is normal and even beneficial—but too much (over 1 cm thick) creates problems:
1. Inspection & Preparation
We assess the thatch level, moss coverage, and grass health. If needed, we pre-treat with a moss killer 10–14 days before scarifying.
2. Scarification
Using a professional-grade machine, we rake out the thatch and moss—lightly for maintenance or more aggressively for renovation.
3. Clean-Up
We collect and remove the debris for proper disposal, leaving the lawn tidy and prepped for recovery.
4. Recovery Plan
After scarification, we usually follow up with:
❌ We avoid scarifying in the heat of summer or during drought or frost, as the lawn needs time and conditions to recover.
